If you want a resort that is like a little town and everything is inside that town, this is the place for you. This resorts provide good pools, gym, spa and different types of accommodations and restaurants. Food is, in general, good but extremely overpriced (even visiting from an expensive city in USA, I thought prices were bad). Sea activities are minimal (not expecting that since is in La Riviera Maya), and you are on their mercy in terms of internal transportation system, unless you want to walk in the heat in very indirect and inefficient types of walk-sides. If you prefer another type of resort or a more authentic vacation this is not for you.

We had an amazing time at the Grand Mayan Resort. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating. We came specifically to get a little rest and relaxation and the Grand Mayan fulfilled above and beyond our expectations. Even the walks from place to place were a joyful experience with so many locations even just within the resort to explore each day.

The resort was beautiful and most of the staff terrific. Check-in at 5:00 is ridiculous and not being able to hang onto our luggage while we waited for our room. The luggage people grabbed our stuff to deliver to our room just after noon and then we sat in our jeans waiting for our room until 5:00. There was no wiggle room for us to check in early and no way for us to get our luggage to change into more appropriate clothing for a sunny 80 degree day.

The Grand Mayan had dated rooms. We had problem with housekeeping service. They did not clean our room 2 days in a row. Food was expensive and the high pressure sales pitch was unwanted. They try to get you in a room and not let you leave.

The Grand Mayan vacation was wonderful! Accommodations were great, the staff was attentive, Laura was super helpful in setting up excursion for us. Our room maids were so wonderful!! The Cirque show was amazing, and the staff worked very hard to make sure the guest were comfortable. The golf course was beautiful although quite challenging for a par 3 course! Make sure you bring plenty of golf balls with all of the water hazards sprinkled throughout the course!! The Havana Nigh show with Karenka was high energy, colorful and super fun. The buffet dinner that evening was delicious and a wide variety to choose from! Thing that we felt could've made golf better was to make range balls more available and some of the rental clubs needed to be regripped. Not fun when you pull out a club and the grip is shredded or split. Clubs themselves were good quality overall but just needed some attention. Several times we went to warm up, the driving range was not available because they said they were 'out of range balls.' There was one night they closed down the entire Salum area for a special event and we were not aware that the entire area was closed off unless you paid an entrance fee. They must not have had a lot of takers because it made the other restaurants very crowded. We did not get to eat at Salum that night and we were met with long lines at Havana Moon and at the general store. We ended up just getting takeout from the general store which was fine. All minor things so generally the trip was a big success!! Thank you!!

The resort was fantastic. The property and rooms are exceptionally clean. The staff is attentive and helpful but not pushy at all. Food was amazing, but you pay a high price for it. The pools were beautiful, clean, and surrounding areas fantastic. There were not many kid-friendly options available to us in the Grand Mayan. We would've had to pay extra for anything for the kids.

Beautiful resort!
The room had awful cooking pots and pans. You can barely cook with them! The peeler didn't work at all.
The view from the patio was also terrible. I saw the other rooms on the other side with a gorgeous, lush, green view and ours was terrible. It needs landscaping and a sound barrier from the loud shuttles!
Please remove the time share people! They're rude and manipulative. It's a very uncomfortable check in experience.
If the shuttles were updated, cleaned up, and had a safer seat side bar on both sides that would be great.
Overall people were lovely and the resort was Beautiful!

The report is beautiful and runs like a well oiled machine. However, we felt the food was way over priced and the rooms could use an update.

Pros: grounds were beautiful and the staff was friendly and responsive.
Cons: Everything is much too expensive for what you’re getting. This includes the cost of the old worn down room with concrete walls and tile floors as well as all of the food items. The cheapest cocktails were $16 USD and the liquor was always watered down. A small coffee was $6 USD, and a hamburger was $18.
Additionally, the resort took every opportunity to upsell us, to the point of stopping us in the middle of our $250 spa treatments to see if they could sell us an additional facial treatment or foot massage. They were also super aggressive about trying to sell us a timeshare or a membership to a vacation club.

My stay was way beyond my expectations. The property is VERY big, but we download the map and walked 8 to 10 miles per day. The shuttle service was great, but we preferred to walk. The food was amazing and the service was even better. Every meal was better than the next. It was the perfect holiday.

Drinks and food were amazing. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Easy to get around walking or using the trams. Easy to get a taxi or shuttle off the resort. But most importantly, kids had the best time at the pool playing volleyball with other guests. Daughter made sure to look for different animals everyday, and was never disappointed . Amazing place!

This is our favorite place in the world to visit. The resort is amazing and the staff are truly incredible. Santos at the main pool is probably the best person ever!
The last time we went we were without our children but this time we took them. It was absolutely perfect for the kiddos. We didn’t even ask for turn down service and after dinner we came home to the beds all made with the kiddos stuffed animals put out.
I can’t say enough about it. Vidanta and the The Grand Mayan is absolutely perfect!

Resort was beautiful and service excellent. Food and drinks were also fantastic. Only one poor food experience which were appetizers with champagne at Cirque performance. The only negative was the hard sell of timeshares and deals at the resort when we arrived at 11:00pm after 9 hours of travel.

Everything was marvelous except the first night(see below). Staff very friendly, food is the best I've had in Mexico, resort is breathtakingly gorgeous, perfect for families with kids, we did snorkeling and jet skiing and it was the best experience thanks to the staff(done on the resort beach), clean rooms each day, shops reasonable and nice selection. Really no need to leave resort... And they prefer it that way...taxi is most expensive service I've yet experienced in Western Hemisphere;)

Cleanliness and service were exceptional! Everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Unit was cleaned twice a day, bed made in the AM and turned down at night with chocolates, security on site was exceptional. A wonderful resort!
